Firefox 3.6 Requires Java SE 6 Update 10

Java SE 6 Update 10 was a significant release despite its version numbering indicating a minor release. Among other advancements, Java SE 6 Update 10 introduced the Next-Generation Java Plug-in for a better Java applet experience. It has now been announced that Firefox 3.6 (Namoroka) will require this next-generation plug-in.
